Oman and India have reiterated their dedication to strengthening their strategic partnership, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, and energy. High-level discussions took place in Muscat on Friday, where Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, met with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar. The talks centered on enhancing collaboration in logistics, emerging technologies, and regional maritime security, underlining the importance of these sectors to both nations.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both ministers to reflect on the deep-rooted connections between Oman and India and to explore avenues for bolstering bilateral cooperation. They placed significant emphasis on fostering ties between businesses in both countries, encouraging high-quality investments, and creating economic opportunities that would be mutually beneficial. This dialogue is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen economic and strategic relations between the two nations.
Discussions also delved into regional and international matters, with a particular focus on the security of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic waterway is critical for global trade and energy supplies, and both sides expressed concern over the impact of regional tensions on these international trade routes and global supply chains. The ministers underscored the need for continued cooperation and diplomatic engagement to safeguard these vital maritime corridors.
Oman and India highlighted the importance of maintaining dialogue to support regional stability. They agreed on the necessity of reducing tensions in line with international law and ensuring that key international shipping lanes remain secure.
