The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has leveled accusations against the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming they are working together after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a demonstration near the Prime Minister’s residence concerning the NEET issue. AAP Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh charged that this protest was permitted by the authorities as a tactic to shift focus away from the student-led agitation demanding accountability for the NEET paper leak. According to Singh, this move undermined the broader public campaign.
Adding to the criticism, Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi pointed out discrepancies in how protests are handled by the government. She highlighted that while student protesters and activists faced restrictions and police action during demonstrations near Parliament, Rahul Gandhi was allowed to protest in close proximity to the Prime Minister’s residence and even received a prompt response from the government.
The situation unfolded after Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited the protest site to meet with Rahul Gandhi, indicating the government’s willingness to discuss NEET-related concerns in Parliament. Despite this gesture, the protest concluded with police detaining Rahul Gandhi along with several Congress Members of Parliament.
This controversy has shed light on the escalating tensions among opposition parties. AAP has accused the Congress of receiving preferential treatment for their protests, suggesting that Congress’s actions have effectively aided the BJP rather than bolstering the wider student movement.
