Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate, has joined her father, Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, in Delhi to protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office. The protest comes in response to the NTA’s rejection of claims that Arya’s examination result was tampered with. The agency recently released a statement dismissing allegations from multiple candidates who argued that their official results did not align with their OMR answer sheets. According to the NTA, any images circulating on social media that suggest discrepancies are fabricated or digitally altered, with some possibly generated using artificial intelligence, and do not match their official records.
Hailing from Kanpur, Arya Singh asserts that her score from the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination was altered after the results were made public. Initially, she claims, her score was recorded as 570, but it was later changed to 167. Arya further contends that the OMR sheet provided by the NTA contained mistakes, such as a missing question number and repeated serial numbers. When she raised objections, the agency reportedly provided another OMR sheet indicating a score of 609 marks.
Rakesh Singh has expressed dissatisfaction with the NTA’s response and is determined to continue the protest until they receive satisfactory answers. He has also made an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to step in and address what he describes as irregularities in the examination process.
The NTA, however, stands firm in its denial of these allegations, maintaining that all original OMR sheets correspond with the announced scores. The agency emphasizes that its official examination documents are equipped with secure identifiers, including barcodes and QR codes, to ensure their authenticity.
This issue is tied to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination that took place on June 21 after the original exam, conducted in May, was canceled due to allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the matter, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing controversy.
