The Delhi government is set to launch a comprehensive campaign named Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning on September 17, as announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This month-long initiative is designed to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service, aiming to implement and initiate projects across the city with an investment of approximately ₹13,800 crore.
The campaign is structured to address various community needs through activities such as blood donation drives, health check-ups for the elderly, and efforts to improve sanitation and clean the Yamuna River. Additionally, registration camps for government welfare schemes will be established in all 70 assembly constituencies. A significant blood donation event is scheduled for the campaign’s launch day, with a goal of collecting 2,500 units, alongside promoting organ donation and facilitating health camps focused on senior citizens.
A substantial portion of the campaign’s budget, about ₹8,000 crore, is earmarked for initiatives related to the Yamuna River. Recognition and appreciation will also be given to more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers during this period. The initiative extends its reach to the younger generation by organizing various programs across approximately 5,000 schools, which will include painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at fostering ideas for a developed India.
The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan campaign encompasses a diverse range of projects, including significant investments in different sectors. Notable allocations include ₹8,000 crore for Delhi Jal Board operations, ₹2,800 crore for Public Works Department (PWD) projects, ₹1,500 crore targeting power-sector advancements, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control measures, and ₹77 crore dedicated to enhancing tourism. These projects are designed to bolster the infrastructure and welfare services throughout the national capital.
