In a significant move to combat drug abuse, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’. This campaign is a call to action for young people across India to spearhead a national effort against the scourge of drug addiction. The initiative is set to unfold over a period of 100 weeks, characterized by a series of public engagement activities every Sunday. These events will include sports, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, and community outreach, all aiming to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use.
In a virtual address to the campaign’s participants, Modi highlighted the strategic misuse of drug trafficking by adversarial forces aiming to destabilize India and undermine its youth. He stressed the critical importance of shielding young people from addiction, labeling it as essential for the creation of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat. The Prime Minister commended the involvement of more than one crore youths from diverse backgrounds who have joined hands in this initiative.
Modi’s speech underscored his commitment to fostering a drug-free society by rallying the youth, who are seen as both the most vulnerable to addiction and the most powerful agents of change.
