The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor is witnessing significant growth, as highlighted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the UP International Trade Show held in Greater Noida. Shah emphasized the strategic importance of the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow, which plays a crucial role in the assembly and testing of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. This facility, inaugurated in May 2025, represents a key component of the state’s expanding defence manufacturing capabilities.
Shah pointed out that investments are steadily pouring into all six nodes of the corridor, which includes Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur. This influx of investment is helping to bolster the state’s defence production infrastructure, with the Lucknow BrahMos facility alone being established with an investment of approximately ₹300 crore. The facility, spread over nearly 200 acres, underscores the commitment to strengthening indigenous defence production and supporting ancillary industries and skilled employment.
In addition to the BrahMos facility, Shah highlighted the production of AK-203 assault rifles in Amethi as another example of the state’s growing defence sector. He noted that such developments are made possible by Uttar Pradesh’s improving law-and-order environment and a robust industrial base, which together are attracting further investment.
Shah also discussed the positive impact of initiatives like the One District, One Product scheme, which is aiding the expansion of local industries and generating employment opportunities for the state’s youth. The UP International Trade Show 2026, running from September 25 to 29, serves as a platform for manufacturers, MSMEs, exporters, artisans, startups, investors, and international buyers to engage and explore opportunities in the region.
